In the last few weeks major media outlets have, between them, broadcast thousands upon thousands of hours of footage of the Gaza conflict. Yet coverage of the Syrian civil war, a far more bloody and destructive conflict, has been far less forthcoming. This would appear to be somewhat disproportionate given how last week roughly the same number of people (1,700) were killed in Syria as throughout the entire four-week Gaza war.

Last night we had our first Air-raid warning siren here in Nahariya as two rockets fell outside of town. This afternoon as I was finishing this bulletin there was another one. At the moment these alerts are of short duration, perhaps a minute or two. By the time we have entered into the security room, closed the armoured window plates and shut the steel door all is over. On the whole the North is relatively safe from Gaza rocket attacks at present. This is not because of any convivial sentiments by Hamas towards Israel's northern residents. Rather it arises from relatively lower numbers of longer-range rockets in the Hamas arsenal, and their preference for using Tel-Aviv for target practice. The missile technology that Hamas fires at Israeli cities is mostly of the "fire and hope for the worst" unguided type, designed for aiming at large area targets, not for individual buildings or satisfying personal grudges, which require something more sophisticated. This is not to say these things are not deadly,-they are. Fire enough of them at a populated area and eventually you will kill someone;--particularly if the area is close by and there is insufficient time for the target population to take shelter. People have been killed in Nahariya in the past and just last night a teenager in Ashkelon was seriously injured by a rocket blast. Hamas' spectacular lack of success is (humanly speaking) at least partly due to the excellent Iron Dome anti-missile system as much as to the unguided nature of their rockets;--it is certainly not due to any lack of effort on their part. Many of these (particularly the smaller) weapons are home-made (produced in workshops which Israel supplies with electricity free of charge, see below) and launched from Heath-Robinson firing platforms, hidden in schools, nurseries, hospitals and mosques or private houses, protected by human-shields and transported to site even in ambulances and even launched from bread-carts. This makes them quite difficult to eradicate. Even after this operation our national leadership know that we are only buying some months or a year or two at best of peace before we have to "take out the trash" all over again.

As Christ at Checkpoint hypocrites diddle and lie, persecution of Middle East Christians by Islam escalates.

At the Christ at the Checkpoint conference in Bethlehem, anti-Israel figure Colin Chapman refused to answer a question about the plight of persecuted Christians in surrounding Islamic countries because "he knows where such questions come from", preferring instead to blame Israel for the existence of Islamic terror groups while in fact Israel is the only country in the region protecting the human rights and religious freedom of Christians. Below is today's report from Barnabas Fund concerning Iran:

A common sense response to the ridiculous charade of Christ at the Checkpoint and the long litany of lies from the liars addressing it.   James Jacob Prasch

Arabs love to gripe about Israel, but it is the best thing that has ever happened for them in the Middle East.

Leaders of the UMJC and MJAA joined forces again this month (see "UMJC, MJAA respond to Messer video) to issue a statement on a matter of deep concern for the Messianic Jewish community. The statement, on the "Christ at the Checkpoint" conference scheduled for March 5-9 in Bethlehem, included leaders of the International Messianic Jewish Alliance and the International Association of Messianic Congregations and Synagogues. The first "Christ at the Checkpoint" conference, held in 2010, drew much criticism for its biased treatment of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and promotion for this year's event raises the same concerns (see  www.christatthecheckpoint.com.) Here is the joint statement in full (or you can hear it read at http://youtu.be/Mk0GPnPqtj0):

Yom Yerushalim / Jerusalem Day

May God Bless Jerusalem and all of her lost souls, Jew & Arab alike, and may many come to a saving faith in The Messiah Yeshua. May He open the eyes of the Jews, the Moslems, and of the nominal Christians in the apostate, liberal, and idolatrous churches within her walls. May He richly Bless the saved believers of Jerusalem - Jew, Arab, and otherwise. Jesus will return to Jerusalem and His feet will again stand upon The Mount of Olives (Matthew 23: 39, Zechariah 12: 1-10, Zachariah 14:4). As Jesus said would one day happen, the Jews have returned to their ancient capital in preparation for His return (Luke 21:24) irrespective of whether John Stott, Stephen Sizer, John Piper, Rick Godwin, Tony Campolo, The Vatican, The Methodists, and The Presbyterians approve of God's plan or not. Israel will be deceived by the anti christ and enter into a false peace and make a covenant with death in the 'Time of Jacob's Trouble' (whether The International Christian Embassy, and Malcom Hedding agree or not). Yet the rejected Messiah will return and save the remnant of Jerusalem and of the planet and establish His Millennial Kingdom there. Jerusalem is where He died, where He arose, and where He is Coming back again. It is where Satan got his biggest defeat and where he will get his final one. Praise Yeshua!

For us at Moriel, Yom Yerushalim is a day of prayer when we mourn over Jerusalem as Jesus did because of "WHAT" is coming ; yet we celebrate and rejoice because of "WHO" is coming.

SHALU SHALOM YERUSHALIM !
