“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6 :12
Dear Friends,
How quickly the month flies. Sometimes it seems as though it were only yesterday that we were writing our last report, and yet the month has rolled by. The weather is increasingly hotter and damper, and it seems to us that even in the spiritual realm things are still very hot! We are redoubtably engaged in a battle against our unseen but ever present enemy. If he can’t bring us down, he will touch our closest friends, and we suffer with them, as we see their battles and the effect it has on them. Keep praying for the situation here, that God will intervene and interpose His might hand.
What ever the battle, the work goes on. Our last meeting was held in the home of a lady who has not yet made a commitment to Yeshua. She invited us to come, provided the meal, got everything ready herself, and then wrote and thanked us for coming. She was obviously very moved that we had held the meeting in her home, and even thanked God in Hebrew during the prayer time that we had come. We would like a lot more invitations like that! There were at least five unbelievers apart from her in the meeting!
We have also started a monthly women’s meeting which was quite well attended, and are due for the next one before this letter goes out. The Wednesday Bible studies are going well, and some weeks’ ago we had the pleasure of having Gideon Levytam of CJFM to speak to us. This was a great meeting which we much enjoyed.

Most Wednesdays, Avi has been teaching us. Last week we had a spot quiz which revealed how much we know (or don’t!) of the basic Bible facts. It was great fun, and very revealing! We are beginning a study on the book of Daniel this week, and have been warned to start reading, because we are going to be quizzed again on what we know, so every body is determined not to be caught out this time round!

One of the highlights of this month was a trip to the southern town of Gadera, about half an hour south of Jerusalem. Two of our friends, including one visiting family from the States, and a Dutch couple who live here, had brought us piles of good quality household goods, clothes, a steam iron , camera, a mixer, trays, shopping baskets, cups, drinking glasses, vitamins, toothbrushes, sun-glasses, and reading glasses (all with their labels still on!), plus house hold linen and towels and lovely kitchen towels, and even some items for children and sweet baby clothes. It was like Christmas and Channukah all rolled up in one, So we loaded everything into Avi’s new van, and set off for Gadera.
This really poor family with six children struggles to exist. We have paid their rent for years to keep them from being thrown into the street. Their joy on seeing these goods and examining them one by one, was palpable, and the whoops of joy as they saw various items and tried on the clothes made us very joyful too. Mother and daughter fought over various items!! We left them their cheque for rent and cash for the grandmother’s medicines. We just wish you could have joined us to see the joy on their faces that they were not forgotten in all their trials. It reminded me of the old English Christmas carol,”Ye who now would bless the poor shall yourself find blessing” How blessed and joyful we were as we set off home! Would any one like to share our joy as we seek to help the poorest of those who have returned to their homeland?
We have also had more contact with our local J.W. Friend, who is beginning to regard us as friends. What a change from her original belligerent attitude. Pray that Dina will come to a knowledge of the truth.
Avi, Ester and I greet you warmly in the name of Yeshua. A big thank you to all who pray for us and support us,
God bless you all,
Ruth Nessim
PS For our British friends.
We have been invited to attend a CFI conference at High Wycombe (near London) from 17th -22 of September. By God’s grace , three Arab believers and I will be speaking at this conference about what God is doing to bring Jews and Arabs together, even in the most difficult of circumstances I am afraid there will not be much time for individual visits, but we will be speaking at various locations which we will give out hopefully in the next letter. Please pray for this conference.
