Yesterday Monica and I spent a day at the Greenbelt Christian Arts festival, our first visit for some 20 years. It was interesting and challenging, but all for the wrong reasons. For me it vindicated my choice of subjects to write about, but for the 20,000 or so Christians – particularly the young and vulnerable – I fear for them, for the teaching and propaganda they received over the 4 day event. Firstly, propaganda. Greenbelt has decided to target Israel, a decision made around 3 years ago, and to highlight the plight of the Palestinians living in Gaza. That’s fair enough, if a balanced view is given and their views are presented sensitively in Christian love. They decided instead to go all-out, all-guns-blazing, with a sustained attack on Israel through every way possible – talks, exhibition displays, visual aids even drama. The following little drama greeted everyone entering the field on Sunday morning for a communion service … Continue reading »

Recently New Zealand’s national press was awash with a story about a disabled, wheel chair bound man who had given his life savings to an Elim Church. An appeal to the Elim church’s pastor, by the management of the man’s hospital care facility, fell on deaf ears. The witness to the world in general was of a rapacious church willing to take all the money it could get from a man they knew to be disabled and obviously in more need of the money than the Elim church. Truth Watch remonstrated directly with the pastor and also sent the following letter to each member of the Elim movement’s national board. Meantime the church, smarting under the unwanted limelight, returned the bulk of the poor man’s money, but the damage had been done. The best response we could get from the Elim Board was a stilted, ad hominen response, from the board’s chair; “You guys must live sad lives”. Of course, we are sad, but not in the sense intended by the Chair. Everytime the Gospel of Jesus Christ is trampled in the mud of church sponsored greed, we weep. Continue reading »

John Partington’s New Strategy To Rescue The Declining British Assemblies of God
A defective product line driving an enterprise towards bankruptcy must be redesigned and not put into a new box with new packaging. Merchandising the same old junk that caused the crisis to begin with by adopting a new marketing strategy or a new company re-organization or a new catalog or a new website will not solve anything. Indeed, it cannot. Every businessman, marketing consultant, and corporate executive knows this. Unfortunately modern Pentecostal theocrats do not. Continue reading »

A Christian was arrested and treated like a ‘common criminal’ after saying that he thought homosexuality was a sin.
Street preacher Dale Mcalpine was held in a cell for seven hours and charged with a public order offence after telling a gay police community support officer that homosexuals were going against the will of God. Continue reading »

It is with great regret that we announce the loss of our friend and brother Stewart Dool, director of Intercessors For Britain (IFB).
Stewart has gone home with Jesus to his reward after having been a solid voice for truth and righteousness in an age of decline both in contemporary society and the church. His battle with motor neuron disease has been cruel and while we rejoice his suffering temporal is ended and his blessings eternal have commenced, we express our deepest condolences in Jesus to his beloved wife Jenny and their children for whom we request prayer. We also request prayer for the future of the much needed ministry of IFB.
Until we are rejoined with him we shall always remember Stewart as a staunch friend of Israel and the Jews with a desire to sees Jewish souls reconciled to their Messiah. Stewart’s gain is indeed our loss.
In Jesus,

Lord Justice Laws today refused permission to Gary McFarlane to have his case heard before the Court of Appeal.
Mr, McFarlane, a relationships counsellor from Bristol, sacked by the Relate Relationship organisation after he refused to provide sexual counselling to homosexual couples because of his Christian beliefs, asked that his case be heard by different judges to those who ruled against Lillian Ladele in December 2009.
Church leaders have been deeply concerned by the ruling by Lord Neuberger, the Master of the Rolls, on behalf of the Court of Appeal, in the case of Lillian Ladele—a registrar who refused to conduct civil partnerships ceremonies because they were against her Christian beliefs—and have argued that the Court of Appeal’s decision effectively means that the right to express a strong Christian faith must take second place to the rights of homosexuals under Labour’s equality laws. EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS – Despite an intensive lobbying effort on the part of European Jewish groups, the European Parliament has endorsed the Goldstone report, the UN’s official investigation into the bombardment of the Gaza Strip in January 2009, a report that accuses Israel of war crimes and calls for the prosecution of Israeli officials in the Hague.
In a 335-to-287 vote splitting the house between left and right, MEPs backed a joint resolution from the centre left, far left, Greens and Liberals calling on the EU’s foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, and the bloc’s member states to “publicly demand the implementation of [the report's] recommendations and accountability for all violations of international law, including alleged war crimes.” Continue reading »

The Spectator magazine organised a debate on the subject ‘England should become a Catholic Country again’ on 2nd March 2010. The speakers for the motion, Cardinal Cormac Murphy O’Connor, Piers Paul Reid and Rev Dom Antony Sutch, were all strong Roman Catholics who made their case for Roman Catholicism being the dominant church while being inclusive of other churches to give a united Christian witness to our secular society. The speakers against the motion were Lord Harries, former Anglican Bishop of Oxford, Matthew Parris, a journalist with The Times and Stephen Pound, a Labour MP and a Roman Catholic. Twickenham’s MP has been left saddened and disappointed after a constituent lost a Court of Appeal ruling the wearing of a cross at work.
Nadia Eweida, from Strawberry Hill, was told in 2006 she could not wear the Christian symbol around her neck while working at Heathrow as a check-in operator for British Airways (BA).
Ms Eweida, of Strawberry Hill Close, was sent home when she refused to remove the cross on September 20, 2006, and was off work without pay until February 2007. Continue reading »

The UK political elites have come up with a legal scheme almost identical in its content to our EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) law. Anyone who keeps up with alerts coming out of Christian, libertarian or conservative groups in Europe will easily see that the same fascistic programs are being pursued over there as they are here in the US. That will not surprise anyone who knows about the international left and its agenda and the scope of its action. But, sadly, few of us do. Continue reading »

This time the term Seismic Shock doesn’t have anything to do with the tragedy of Haiti. A devout Christian teacher has lost her job after discussing her faith with a mother and her sick child and offering to pray for them.
Olive Jones, a 54-year-old mother of two, who taught maths to children too ill to attend school, was dismissed following a complaint from the girl’s mother. She was visiting the home of the child when she spoke about her belief in miracles and asked whether she could say a prayer, but when the mother indicated they were not believers she did not go ahead.
Mrs Jones was then called in by her managers who, she says, told her that sharing her faith with a child could be deemed to be bullying and informed her that her services were no longer required.
Her dismissal has outraged Christian groups, who say new equality regulations are driving Christianity to the margins of society.
They said the case echoed that of community nurse Caroline Petrie, who was suspended last December after offering to pray for a patient but who was later reinstated after a national outcry.
Coincidentally, Mrs Petrie lives nearby and has been a friend of Mrs Jones for some years. Mrs Jones, whose youngest son is a Royal Marine who has served in Afghanistan, said she was merely trying to offer comfort and encouragement and only later realised her words had caused distress, for which she is apologetic.
