A controversy is brewing over three reputable Christian organizations, which are based in North America, whose efforts have ousted the words “Father” and “Son” from new Bibles. Wycliffe Bible Translators, Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) and Frontiers are under fire for “producing Bibles that remove “Father,” “Son” and “Son of God” because these terms are offensive to Muslims.”
Concerned Christian missionaries, Bible translators, pastors, and national church leaders have come together with a public petition to stop these organizations. They claim a public petition is their last recourse because meetings with these organizations’ leaders, staff resignations over this issue and criticism and appeals from native national Christians concerned about the translations “have failed to persuade these agencies to retain “Father” and “Son” in the text of all their translations.”
Biblical Missiology, a ministry of Boulder, Colorado-based Horizon International, is sponsoring the petition.
The main issues of this controversy surround new Arabic and Turkish translations. Here are three examples native speakers give:
First, Wycliffe and SIL have produced Stories of the Prophets, an Arabic Bible that uses an Arabic equivalent of “Lord” instead of “Father” and “Messiah” instead of “Son.”
Second, Frontiers and SIL have produced Meaning of the Gospel of Christ , an Arabic translation which removes “Father” in reference to God and replaces it with “Allah,” and removes or redefines “Son.” For example, the verse which Christians use to justify going all over the world to make disciples, thus fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19) reads, “Cleanse them by water in the name of Allah, his Messiahand his Holy Spirit” instead of “baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Rev. Bassam Madany, an Arab American who runs Middle East Resources, terms these organization’s efforts as “a western imperialistic attempt that’s inspired by cultural anthropology, and not by biblical theology.”
Third, Frontiers and SIL have produced a new Turkish translation of the Gospel of Matthew that uses Turkish equivalents of “guardian” for “Father” and “representative” or “proxy” for “Son.” To Turkish church leader Rev. Fikret Böcek, “This translation is ‘an all-American idea‘ with absolutely no respect for the ‘sacredness’ of Scripture, or even of the growing Turkish church.”
SIL has issued a public response stating “all personnel subscribe to a statement of faith which affirms the Trinity, Christ’s deity, and the inspiration of Scripture.” However, in the same statement, which is similar to Wycliffe‘s, it claims “word-for-word translation of these titles would communicate an incorrect meaning (i.e. that God had physical, sexual relationships with Mary) [sic],” thus justifying substituting “Father” and “Son” in new translations. Calls and emails to Wycliffe and SIL to clarify their positions were not returned. Frontiers responded to calls with articles that critics have already dismissed as skirting omissions of “Father” and “Son” in new Bible translations.
Moriel (UK) supports the boycott of Tesco in response to their financial support of the London homosexual & lesbian parade. Retailers should not be taking sides in a culture war of moral values. Tesco has not responded to Judeo-Christian objections. There are alternative competitors who are just as price competitive for shopping as Tesco who are not so engaged. 
AIDS & HIV are de-populating Africa. In Africa however, unlike in the developed world, HIV infection is not statistically related to a homosexual lifestyle. As if enough Black Africans are not dead from AIDS The British government of David Cameron wants to use economic and political coercion to change African laws concerning sodomy which is largely alien to African culture.
This is Cameron’s new face of racist colonialist imperialism at its most outrageous worst. To force a homosexual moral agenda on an African culture and threaten assistance to the poor to force their acquiescence to it is nothing less than satanic. We urge prayer that God will raise His Hand against Cameron in judgment and that African governments will resist this pressure.

Imagine being fired from your job because you believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman. In an unbelievable case involving the well known corporation Cisco, my friend Frank Turek experienced the real world consequences of losing income solely because he held a view of marriage that was considered bigoted by one employee of Cisco. I implore you to take a couple of minutes and read what happened to Frank here.

The homosexual lobby in this country is becoming more powerful and more brazen in their efforts to punish and intimidate anyone who disagrees with them. We (AFA) are hearing from employees who are being forced to attend “diversity” and “sensitivity” classes or else lose their job. Just this week we got a letter from a doctor at a children’s hospital in Ohio who sent us a picture of a “gay pride” exhibit on prominent display inside the hospital.
I urge you today to take a moment and let the decision makers at Cisco hear from you. If we don’t start to speak up and fight back we are going to continue to lose and one day soon it will be illegal to preach against homosexuality from the pulpit. That day is coming. Frank was treated unjustly and unfairly (fired) just because he held traditional views on marriage.

Tulsa Police Captain Paul Fields was recently suspended for two weeks without pay because, according to the WorldNetDaily story below (highlights added), he refused to attend a âLaw Enforcement Appreciation Dayâ event at the Islamic Society of Tulsaâan event that was nothing more than Islamic proselytizing.

A Tulsa, Okla., police captain is suing his chief and the city after he was demoted and targeted by an internal investigation for refusing orders to attend an event featuring lessons in Islam, a tour and a prayer service at a mosque linked to an unindicted co-conspirator in a terror financing trial.
The legal action has been brought by attorneys with the Thomas More Law Center on behalf of Paul Fields.
Named as defendants are the city, police chief Charles W. Jordan and deputy chief Alvin Daryl Webster. WND requests for comment did not generate a response from the defendants.
The lawsuit focuses on the officer’s constitutional and civil rights, and besides a resolution of Fields’ concerns, it seeks an injunction preventing “enforcement of defendants’ unconstitutional acts, policies, practices, procedures and/or customs.”
At issue is a solicitation by officials in the Tulsa Police Department for officers to attend a “Law Enforcement Appreciation Day” organized by the Islamic Society of Tulsa. The invitation said the officers would be given tours of the mosque, meet the mosque’s leadership, be given presentations of “beliefs, human rights, women” and “watch the 2-2:45 weekly congregational prayer service.”
While at first the police administration’s recommendation for attendance at the event appeared to be voluntary â there was a voluntary signup list â the law firm said when officers refused to respond, the managers made it a required event.
The day “had nothing to do with any official police function. It clearly fell outside of the police department’s policy on community policing, and based on comments made by police department officials in a closed door meeting, it was not ‘community outreach’ as it has been previously portrayed,” the law firm explained.
“Rather, it included a mosque tour, meetings with local Muslims and Muslim leadership, observing a ‘weekly prayer service,’ and lectures on Islamic ‘beliefs,’” the Thomas More Law Center explained. “The event was scheduled for Friday, March 4, 20011 â Friday being the ‘holy day’ or ‘Sabbath’ for Islam. In fact, the event was originally voluntary, but when not enough officers were willing to attend, it became mandatory.”

The lawsuit alleges, “The event held by the Islamic Society involved Islamic proselytizing. The Islamic Society event was advertised as including Islamic proselytizing, and it in fact resulted in the proselytizing of city police officers who attended the event.”
The issue of Islamic law, or Shariah, infiltration into the United States is drawing increasing attention. Several state legislative efforts already have developed, including in Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee and Florida, to prevent judges from applying Shariah, which includes penalties such as beheading for leaving Islam, in the government’s court systems.
Last year in Oklahoma, voters with a 70-percent majority approved such a ban, but U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange blocked it after the Council on American-Islamic Relations argued the move was “anti-Islam.”

Reverend Doctor Stephen Sizer is the incumbent of Christ Church Virginia Water, and will be acting as Locum Rural Dean in September and October 2011, in the deanery of Runnymede.
In his capacity as an Anglican vicar, and his role as an international speaker, Sizer is presenting a heavily-politicised message which he considers to be Christian.Yet Sizerâs associations with various anti-Semites and Holocaust deniers, his encouraging of political protests outside of synagogues on Jewish high holy days, and his theological and political views on Israel, are cause for concern.
His appearance with a Malaysian Far Right outfit is but the latest in a long line of controversial statements and actions.

This story in the L.A. Times is but one of many which report that if the Unites States had not vetoed a U.N. Security Council resolution condemning Israeli settlements in the West Bank that it would have passed unanimously.
While we have been openly critical of the changes in U.S. policy toward Israel by current and past administrations, we think it important to applaud and affirm those times when they do the right thing. We encourage Christians, whenever possible, to not just contact the White House or political representatives to express outrage over bad decisions, but to make a concerted effort as in this case to tell them directly how much we appreciate their taking the right stand on behalf of Israel in spite of overwhelming opposition. It is important that we be as enthusiastic in our support of the right decisions as we are passionate in airing our concerns over the bad ones.

The United Nations Human Rights Council spends a great deal of its time condemning Israel while ignoring real human rights abuses. Recently, the Council approved a resolution endorsing the one-sided, biased report of Judge Richard Goldstone and accusing Israel of “War Crimes.” This resolution will now be considered by the U.N. Security Council urging them to veto this biased resolution.
