Dear Friends
We want to end this year giving praise to our God for His supply that he has often wrought through you. When David Lister asked me to put together a review of the year I felt quite daunted as so much has happened and I did not want to forget to thank anyone for their input. So that’s why I want to begin with thanks giving to our God and to our supporters for all that you have done. From Jacob and Dave Lister who always mention the work wherever they go, to all our administrators who are so supportive, to my family who put up with my insecurities and especially to my parents who host me. The list goes on and on and on and so we give Glory to God. Continue reading »

Dear friends
Five thirty on a Saturday morning saw myself and the seven younger children heading out the gate in the bakkie (van) for Kwa Zulu Natal for our longed for visit, albeit a short one to Salvador and Dianne. We left Allen in the capable care of Lizzie, Thoko, Rosie and Walter to spend a quiet weekend at home with Roxanne coming in to cook supper for them. Four and a half hours later found us at Vryheid after an uneventful journey including a long stretch littered with potholes and kilometers traveling behind lines of four to five trucks at a time ahead of us. Salvador and Dianne met us in Vryheid and we followed them out of town to the outlying farmlands about forty minutes away. We then turned down a sand road (actually a mud road) and a little way along arrived at their home. Continue reading »

Well Hlobo(summer) has arrived here. I can see that our solar shower will be used for cooling off once the temps start to get really high.
Our hut feels more and more like home now. Salvi has put up a secure clothes line for Di. Once we have secured a section of the garden from cows and chickens it will be great to start the planting for our veggie garden. We have sown a small piece of lawn in front of our home to help keep the mud down to a minimum for when the rains come and have used the wonderful supply of rocks around us to make paths and walk areas. The mud is incredible here, I can see why they used it for there huts. It is a clay soil that builds on itself. Our shoes end up being platforms like something out of the 70’s. It is near impossible to try and get it off once it has dried. Hence the paths and grass!!!!! Continue reading »

Dear friends and supporters
We would like to say thank you for those who helped us in our prayers for an MPV. As you know our Kombi broke down nearly two years and although our Ford Fiesta is a neat little car, taking large amounts of kids for their HIV blood screening tests at the clinic was impractical. This also means we can take trips to the Bokkie park at last or even go for an ice cream.
Thank you once again for your prayers and practical support.
In Jesus

Dear Friends
We would like to introduce to you two new children who have begun the process of coming to Ebyown from a local government hospital. Both children (Mouse and Siphiwe) have serious physical and developmental challenges but have settled down well with the other children. As they settle we will give you regular updates on their condition although our first task is to place them on a diet that will increase their calories. Continue reading »

Dear Friends
A big thank you to supporters who made it possible for us to install a trampoline for the kids. This will not only be a fun thing but will actually help our CP kids with their balance and movement and as you can see our Nurse Marijke got in on the act with Spud.
May the Lord Bless you

Here we are, at the auction yard where Salvador used to live. An extension lead comes out of the kitchen area where there is power and we are typing this newsletter from the comfort of our truck. The sound of wind blowing through the trees can be heard and behind, tree littered mountains surround us. As you can tell we are not in Gauteng anymore. Continue reading »

Like a prayer: The Italian nun who spent 20 years as a lapdancer
By Nick Pisa
A lapdancer has opted for the most dramatic of ‘career’ changes and become a nun.
Anna Nobili, 38, spent 20 years performing in strip clubs across Europe.
Deciding she wanted more out of life, Miss Nobili has joined the order of the Sister Workers of the Holy House of Nazareth.

Acts 8:3-31 “Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, ‘Do you understand what you are reading?’ And he said, ‘Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?’ And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.”
Well the month has finally arrived when we are heading off to start the new work in KwaZulu Natal. Salvi has been at Ebyown for the last three years and Di for the last 2. It has been a strange feeling moving out of the plot and into Allen and Sue’s place. Salvi has stayed here twice. First when Dave and Lyn lived here and then now with the Wells. And the experience really goes to show that it is not the bricks and mortar that shapes a home’s identity but the people that live within it. We are using this time to visit friends and say goodbye before we head off into the field. It has been quite relaxing the last few days and we thank God for it. We are also grateful for the people whom God has used to bless us in many different ways and encourage us to press into the Lord and press forward in the work that He has for us to do. Thank you for your support in letters and prayers and your involvement in our lives. Continue reading »

Dear Friends

Sam and Lorraine on their wedding day
Today we are mourning the death of a beloved brother in the Lord, Sam. Sam died yesterday from Meningitis which, because of his status, became more critical than usual to control. Sam leaves a widow in Loraine and 4 children. But what can we say about Sam? I have used Sam many times in sermon illustrations on the subject of Redemption lift. The brief time we knew him was an example of how Christ can indwell and transform a life. His life went from unsaved to saved through the witness of his wife and also his daughter who came to faith. Because of this, Sam began coming to church and then committed his life to Yeshua. Then we saw what God did in his life as he was found outside his home most evenings reading scripture and even later on in his walk holding bible studies with others around him. He was a firm man, with lots of character and a great sense of humour and also with lots of determination to see Jesus lifted up. This led to him spending hours with Salvador learning to read scripture in Zulu, one of the languages he spoke, as he initially did not know how to read. When he had the offer of being taught to read in Zulu he grabbed it with both hands, and what was the reason? So he could read the bible for himself! But Sam wasn’t content with that, he also desired to read scripture in English too. Continue reading »

Dear Moriel Supporters.
This last month has been quite encouraging but there have been challenges too. On the good side of news we have had 4 people give their lives to the Lord. Two of which are a couple that have had a child out of wedlock. We are trusting that they will have a civil ceremony soon and then they will be baptised. It was a pleasure seeing the Lord open the guys eyes to the Gospel and him zealously grab the offer of salvation with both hands. In none of the cases was there an altar call. They all approached Zak and I about salvation. In a 5th case a lady recommitted her life to the Lord after being involved in a church that was antinomian in its teaching. On the bad side of news, our friend, Sam, has been ill for a couple of weeks with sinus problems and severe headaches. He has seen a couple of doctors but wasn’t satisfied that the medication he had been given was taking away the pain. He went to a traditional herbalist for some medicine but this had a bad effect on him. We have visited him in hospital and were pleased to see that he was feeling better though still looking thin. While he has been ill the last couple of weeks he has stubbornly refused to eat, so it was good to see him eating. Please pray for Him that God would be gracious and convict him and restore him. Sam is a lovely guy who had a real heart change a few months back and it has been sad to see him in the position he has been in. Continue reading »
