Hello again and shalom from Israel.
The last weeks seem to be a never ending saga, with one event following another in quick succession. We hardly finish one saga and the next one is already on the doorstep. Within one short week, three leading brothers in Israel died, and two weddings took place, so that believers were running up and down the country from funeral to funeral and wedding to wedding, and sometimes we were meeting people we had not seen for years, on a daily basis. In spite of the many problems, it proved that we were really one big family supporting each other in joy and in sorrow. It was interesting to see how both Jews and Arabs were present at all these events, rejoicing or sorrowing together. One of which was the wedding of Carlos and Tanya, with whom we came to Britain for the CFI conference last year. If you have never seen Arabs rejoicing, and Jews rejoicing with them, you haven’t lived yet! I felt worn out just from watching them . Continue reading »
Shalom again to all our friends in every part of the globe,
This has been again a very packed month with events almost colliding with one another, but because a number of you have written to ask about the eye operation, we’ll start with that. It seems to have been a success, and I now have a stint in both eyes, and no more pressure in either of them. The sight is slowly normalizing in my left eye, though still somewhat blurred, but I am improving all the time. The right eye was badly damaged two years ago during a cataract operation, so I am thankful that the left eye is doing that well. I thank all of you who were praying for me. Continue reading »
Shalom again to all our dear friends all over the world,
I should like to begin this letter by thanking every one who has written to me, commented or made suggestions. I deeply appreciate all your efforts to keep in touch, but am unable to respond to all the letters Never the less, I am always happy to read them, and to know that many of you are praying for us here. Thank you all so much. Continue reading »
We have yet another dilemma in Israel (as if we don’t have enough already). Nearly three years ago an Israeli soldier was kidnapped while on duty outside the Gaza strip after a sneak attack by Hamas terrorists on an Israeli military position. A number of soldiers were killed or wounded in the raid and Gilad Shalit, who himself was wounded, was snatched into a Hamas hideout somewhere in Gaza. This, most likely, may have sparked off the Second Lebanon War. The Shiite terror cell in Lebanon, Hezbollah, seeing that it seemed so “easy” to snatch an Israeli soldier, did the same along the Lebanese – Israeli border. After over two years of negotiations with Hezbollah and the release of a number of terrorists, including one who was serving a multiple life sentence, the bodies of two Israeli soldiers were returned to their families for burial in Israel…but what about Gilad? We assume that he’s still alive although we have only the word of those who know who’s holding him. He has not been visited by the International Red Cross, and although he was wounded, have no idea what his physical status is. The terrorists being held in Israeli prisons are living in “country club” conditions – cable TV, daily Arabic newspapers, visitation rights, three square meals a day, and they receive, as well, money from the outside to purchase items from the prison PX. Many thanks to all of you who sent cards and calenders, emails and your good wishes. We appreciate them all, also the News letters, and news of what you are doing. Continue reading »
Hello again to all our friends and Shalom from Israel!
This past month we had had a house full of visitors, among them a Jewish believer from Kenya, Ann Lipson, who has spent years in Africa in the service of the King, and Morris Alex, a pastor from Australia, who came to serve as a volunteer in various places in Israel, and helped also with some painting and decorating in our home and for another sister here in Nahariya, as well as in Carmiel. Thank you Morris, and both Ann and Morris enriched our lives by sharing theirs! We also had a visit from Derek and Gail Rous of PFI, and Derek White from CFI. We should not forget to mention that Rabbi Joseph from Los Angeles was frequently visiting us over a period of about three weeks, and added to our colourful variety of guests. We enjoyed having all these dear people and the input they gave us. But now the visitors have all gone and we have a few days before the next ones arrive! Continue reading »
Hi Everybody!
If I have been out of touch with you, it is because I have just returned from a 19 day trip to England where a team of five Israelis, comprising three Arabs, the Russian Jewish fiancée of one of them, and I were invited to speak at a conference arranged by CFI England. Continue reading »
September 3rd, 2004 – Four years ago to this very day, the three-day Beslan hostage crisis finally came to an “end.” An end to their captivity… an end to their thirst… and for more than 330 and of them – an end to their very lives. Shortly after 1PM on September 3rd, 2004, two explosions rocked the gym and brought on the storm by the Russian forces. As previously mentioned, there is great controversy regarding who is responsible for the initial two explosions which preceded the storm. But in having lived there in Beslan for about a year and a half, having talked with the families there, and having read several articles and lots of information regarding this issue, it appears very likely that those two explosions were not caused by the terrorists. And I would say that the vast majority in Beslan is – to say the least – highly critical of the Russian government’s actions and post-siege explanations. First off, they saw Russia’s response to the theater which was seized by Chechnyan terrorists in Moscow several years back; Russia pumped in gas so as to render the terrorists unconscious, but they wound up using deadly amounts, and most of the hostages died as a result of the gas, not from the terrorists. The following site has the official list of the hostages who died as a result of that terrorist attack; 5 people were killed by the terrorists, but 125 died as a result of the Russian Special Forces’ gas!

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6 :12
Dear Friends,
How quickly the month flies. Sometimes it seems as though it were only yesterday that we were writing our last report, and yet the month has rolled by. The weather is increasingly hotter and damper, and it seems to us that even in the spiritual realm things are still very hot! We are redoubtably engaged in a battle against our unseen but ever present enemy. If he can’t bring us down, he will touch our closest friends, and we suffer with them, as we see their battles and the effect it has on them. Keep praying for the situation here, that God will intervene and interpose His might hand. Continue reading »
Shalom again from Israel..
We greet you again from a very warm and sunny Israel. The last two months have been very hectic, and the Passover Seder and visit to Bethlehem are now memories, but we continue to be very busy. Five days after the visit to Bethlehem, we received the joyful news that *ABDM had come to faith and made a commitment to Jesus. This is a big step for a Moslem, and we need to pray for him as he lives in a spiritual desert with no-one to help him. He has to rely on visits from Pastor Najeeb and teaching books. Yet we believe that God has his hand on this young man. The following is a translation of a letter he sent me on the day he made his decision to follw Jesus. Continue reading »
Peace I leave with you – My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do
I give unto you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. (John 14:27, NASB)
What a rich, rich blessing we have in Jesus Christ! Jesus gives us His peace, a peace so unlike the false ‘peace’ that this world endlessly pursues. And so we shouldn’t let our hearts be troubled, nor should we let our hearts be fearful. If you’re reading this right now and you have burdens, worries, stress, and pressure weighing heavily upon you, take a deep breath, and open up to John 14:27 and let His word minister to your soul. Actually, I recommend reading all the way through chapters 14-16… these chapters have so very many precious truths contained in them! If we read them with a heart open to His Voice, it is virtually impossible to close The Bible and not feel way better than we did before. Jesus’ words are so beautiful indeed! Continue reading »
