Discernment issues concerning the latest news about Israel

Iranian Christians Rounded up in Sweep of Arrests Across the Country

As Christ at Checkpoint hypocrites diddle and lie, persecution of Middle East Christians by Islam escalates.

At the Christ at the Checkpoint conference in Bethlehem, anti-Israel figure Colin Chapman refused to answer a question about the plight of persecuted Christians in surrounding Islamic countries because “he knows where such questions come from”, preferring instead to blame Israel for the existence of Islamic terror groups while in fact Israel is the only country in the region protecting the human rights and religious freedom of Christians. Below is today’s report from Barnabas Fund concerning Iran: Continue reading

Joint statement on “Christ at the Checkpoint”

Leaders of the UMJC and MJAA joined forces again this month (see “UMJC, MJAA respond to Messer video) to issue a statement on a matter of deep concern for the Messianic Jewish community. The statement, on the “Christ at the Checkpoint” conference scheduled for March 5-9 in Bethlehem, included leaders of the International Messianic Jewish Alliance and the International Association of Messianic Congregations and Synagogues. The first “Christ at the Checkpoint” conference, held in 2010, drew much criticism for its biased treatment of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and promotion for this year’s event raises the same concerns (see  www.christatthecheckpoint.com.) Here is the joint statement in full (or you can hear it read at http://youtu.be/Mk0GPnPqtj0): Continue reading

Yom Yerushalim / Jerusalem Day

May God Bless Jerusalem and all of her lost souls, Jew & Arab alike, and may many come to a saving faith in The Messiah Yeshua. May He open the eyes of the Jews, the Moslems, and of the nominal Christians in the apostate, liberal, and idolatrous churches within her walls. May He richly Bless the saved believers of Jerusalem – Jew, Arab, and otherwise. Jesus will return to Jerusalem and His feet will again stand upon The Mount of Olives (Matthew 23: 39, Zechariah 12: 1-10, Zachariah 14:4). As Jesus said would one day happen, the Jews have returned to their ancient capital in preparation for His return (Luke 21:24) irrespective of whether John Stott, Stephen Sizer, John Piper, Rick Godwin, Tony Campolo, The Vatican, The Methodists, and The Presbyterians approve of God’s plan or not. Israel will be deceived by the anti christ and enter into a false peace and make a covenant with death in the ‘Time of Jacob’s Trouble’ (whether The International Christian Embassy, and Malcom Hedding agree or not). Yet the rejected Messiah will return and save the remnant of Jerusalem and of the planet and establish His Millennial Kingdom there. Jerusalem is where He died, where He arose, and where He is Coming back again. It is where Satan got his biggest defeat and where he will get his final one. Praise Yeshua!

For us at Moriel, Yom Yerushalim is a day of prayer when we mourn over Jerusalem as Jesus did because of “WHAT” is coming ; yet we celebrate and rejoice because of “WHO” is coming.

EUSA Boycott of Israel Goods

Saturday, March 19, 2011, 2:11 AM

May I be permitted to say a few words to members of the EUSA? I am an Edinburgh graduate (MA 1975) who studied Persian, Arabic and Islamic History in Buccleuch Place under William Montgomery Watt and Laurence Elwell Sutton, two of Britain’s great Middle East experts in their day. I later went on to do a PhD at Cambridge and to teach Arabic and Islamic Studies at Newcastle University. I am the author of several books and hundreds of articles in this field. Continue reading

An Israel Independence Day Message from Moriel’s partner ministry at the J Ranch, California

As I think on the Jews in Israel today, I know they will soon be celebrating Yom ha-Azma’ut(or Israel Independence Day).

I can’t help but grieve for they do not know true freedom nor ever will until they know Y’shua, Jesus! Continue reading

Help Stop 3rd Intifada Against Israel on Facebook – Updated 4/02/11

This is something that everyone can and must do. A Facebook page was created calling for a 3rd Intifada against Israel. It is mostly in Arabic. The creators of this page are calling for the Arab world to attack and take over Israel. The number of people clicking on the “Like” button is increasing every hour (yesterday they had 125,000 “likes”, this morning there were more than 221,000 and now it is much greater and keeps increasing).

We must ask Facebook to take action and remove this page – see directions below.

It’s not important whether your personal politics are pro-Israel, anti-Israel, or just plain neutral. INCITING VIOLENCE AGAINST ANY RACIAL, ETHNIC, RELIGIOUS OR NATIONAL GROUP IS JUST PLAIN WRONG!!

Whether you are a FACEBOOK user or not, click on the link below – if it doesn’t work then sign up for Facebook. See directions below! Please forward this urgent message to everybody on your email contact list – both Jewish and non-Jewish. When you send to others, please send using ‘Bcc’ (blind copy) so as not to expose your list to others.

THIS MONTH ALONE, 5 ISRAELI CIVILIANS INCLUDING A 3-MONTH OLD BABY WERE MURDERED WHILE SLEEPING IN THEIR HOME, A BOMB WAS DETONATED BESIDE A BUS IN JERUSALEM KILLING ONE PERSON AND INJURING 30 MORE. AS WELL, ISRAEL INTERCEPTED A SHIP CARRYING 50 TONS OF HIGH TECH WEAPONS WITH SOPHISTICATED MISSELS HEADED FOR GAZA. THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT KIDDING AROUND AND FOR THEM TO USE FACEBOOK OR ANY OTHER MEANS TO CALL FOR MORE KILLING IS OBSCENE.

Directions:

JUST click on one of the links below to reach the Facebook page. Then scroll down the left side of the page where you will see “Report Page” in tiny print. Click on ‘report page’ and choose “Contains hate speech” (you can then choose a further option of ‘targets a race or ethnicity’). Then click ‘submit’. Thank you very much for helping.

Anti-Semitism Growing Rapidly in Tolerant Europe

The following is excerpted from “Jews Reluctantly Abandon Swedish City,” Haaretz.com, July 11, 2010: “At some point, the shouts of ‘Heil Hitler’ that often greeted Marcus Eilenberg as he walked to the 107-year-old Moorish-style synagogue in this port city forced the 32-year-old attorney to make a difficult, life-changing decision: Fearing for his family’s safety after repeated anti-Semitic incidents, Eilenberg reluctantly uprooted himself and his wife and two children, and moved to Israel in May. Sweden, a country long regarded as a model of tolerance, has, ironically, been a refuge for Eilenberg’s family. His paternal grandparents found a home in Malmo in 1945 after surviving the Holocaust. His wife’s parents came to Malmo from Poland in 1968 after the communist government there launched an anti-Semitic purge. But as in many other cities across Europe, a rapidly growing Muslim population living in segregated conditions that seem to breed alienation has mixed toxically with the anger directed at Israeli policies and actions by those Muslims–and by many non-Muslims–to all but transform the lives of local Jews. Like many of their counterparts in other European cities, the Jews of Malmo report being subjected increasingly to threats, intimidation and actual violence as stand-ins for Israel. … A continent-wide study, conducted by the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence at the University of Bielefeld in Germany, released in December 2009, found that … 37.4% agreed with this statement: ‘Considering Israel’s policy, I can understand why people do not like Jews.’ … 86-year-old Judith Popinski says she is no longer invited to schools that have a large Muslim presence to tell her story of surviving the Holocaust. Popinski found refuge in Malmo in 1945. Until recently, she told her story in Malmo schools as part of their Holocaust studies program. Now, some schools no longer ask Holocaust survivors to tell their stories, because Muslim students treat them with such disrespect, either ignoring the speakers or walking out of the class. ‘Malmo reminds me of the anti-Semitism I felt as a child in Poland before the war,’ she said.”

Christian Aid Apologises for Israeli Sexual Abuse Allegation

by Gareth Jones
16 Jun 2010

Hebron250_250Christian Aid has been forced to apologise after it falsely claimed that Israeli settlers in the West Bank city of Hebron (pictured) had sexually abused Palestinian children.

The error occurred in a press briefing document on the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme, which sends volunteers to the West Bank and Israel to offer non-violent protection to Palestinians and Israeli activists. Continue reading
