Discernment issues pertaining to false prophets

Wall Watchers

We are adding this to our Links  page but thought to post it here as well. They have a web page called “Ministry Watch” which is an excellent resource for finding out the financial condition of many ministries. On the front page is a list of “30 Shining Light Ministries” who do the best job of getting as close to 100% of donations out to the field, and “30 Donor Alert Ministries” which is a kind of financial hall of shame. They provide this report which briefly states the problem with each “winner”.

When Will the Rapture Take Place?

Question:

I heard Jacob speak as a guest on TruNews radio program and was quite impressed with his viewpoints.  Would Jacob please answer 2 questions I have for him:

When does he believe the rapture of the Church will take place in relation to the 7 year Tribulation?

What does he think about the modern day Apostolic Movement.  Does he believe the office of Apostle is relevant for today? Continue reading

Profane Preachers Contribute to Killing the Conscience

Mark Driscoll

Mark Driscoll

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. — Luke 6:45

There seems to be a growing trend in the Church for the clergy to feed the sensual appetite through their sermons. What we are dealing with are pastors who have dirty minds and potty mouths. The word that best describes them is profane.

The following definition of profane is from the Merriam Webster dictionary:

1: to treat (something sacred) with abuse, irreverence, or contempt: desecrate

2: to debase by a wrong, unworthy, or vulgar use

So profanity is language that shows disrespect for something sacred, such as the name of God. Not taking the Lord’s Name in vain is one of the Ten Commandments:

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain (Exodus 20:7). Continue reading

Graham Cooke

Moriel received the following question:

Has Moriel heard of the allegedly “prophetic” ministry of Graham Cooke from Manchester, England who presently is in leadership in a church called “Mission” in California?

Jacob answers:

Manchester, England, where Moriel has an affiliated church in neighbouring Reddish and where I once lived doing evangelistic ministry in the Jewish community (and where my grandfather was born), is a spiritually destitute city that does not need to export preachers, it needs to import them. But the climate and affluence are much nicer in California (where Moriel also has an affiliated church). Graham Cooke apparently left from a church in South Hampton (where I sometimes speak at the local Calvary Chapel). Graham Cooke was not a well-known figure in British evangelical circles before he left for America at the apparent expense of his marriage and, because  of that, his witness to the lost. Open Letter to C Peter Wagner of NAR

Prof. Johan Malan
Mossel Bay, South Africa
2011.08.24

(The original version of this article may be read on Sandy Simpson’s website: www.deceptioninthechurch/page2.html)

Dear Peter

I address this Open Letter to you in response to your article, The New Apostolic Reformation: an Update (Aug. 19, 2011).

Evangelical Christians everywhere, but particularly also here in South Africa, have to take issue with you for deceptively presenting the NAR as a movement which subscribes to “all the standard classic statements of Christian doctrine”, for creating false expectations of introducing God’s kingdom on earth by, among others, using an unbiblical form of strategic spiritual warfare, for completely negating biblical prophecies on the end-time, and also for associating a Christian reformation with the African Independent Church Movement. Their Eschatology Simply Mirrors Their Theology

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. (2 Pe. 2:1)

Moriel recently received links to an author’s website for one of his books which, among other things, purports to have deciphered the true meaning of “666″. Because Jacob’s latest book on the Antichrist (Shadows of the Beast) is about to come out, it was suggested that he provide a biblical response to this specific assertion. But when we looked at the rest of the website and the other books authored, we quickly realized this was not simply the case of a brother in the Lord who was making a mistake in earnest about the mark of the Beast. His other writings were so contra-scriptural to the basic truths of biblical Christianity that we can consider him nothing less than an outright heretic regardless of what he posits about End Times issues. No one should be surprised that his notions of the meaning of “666″ are bizarre when his ideas of God’s salvific plan are nothing short of heresy. Why bother responding to an error in the handling of prophecy when there is no hope until they correct the most egregious errors in their faith?

False Prophet Once Again A Public Clown

Doomsday Prophet Harold Camping Proven Wrong Again

Have you heard of the pseudo-Christian doomsday prophet Harold Camping?  Today he has once again proven himself to be a false prophet.

Harold Camping, who years ago predicted Judgment Day to be in September  of 1994, has once again predicted the end of the world.  According to Harold  Camping, the return of Christ and the rapture were supposed to happen today, and Judgment Day is/was supposed to begin today, May 21, 2011. Pat Robertson Does Not Hear from God & Other False Prophets

by Jackie Alnor
Apostasy Alert

Every January prognosticators and forecasters in the world, the church, and the occult publish their predictions for the coming year. When we look back at their track record, we’re not very impressed. Some are hit & miss; others are downright off target; none are 100% accurate.
Recently the economic experts have most people’s attention. They base their predictions on their understanding of the financial market. Meteorologists forecast weather patterns to expect in the coming year. Astrologers supposedly see into the future via the study of the constellations and superstitious beliefs in their influences. And self-appointed prophets in the visible church prophesy according to a supposed dream, vision, or audible voice from God.

All these voices have a common appeal: worldliness… [To continue reading go to this link.]

Question: Are There Really Latter Day Apostles?

A Reader Inquires:

How to I tell my brother that there are no more apostles after Paul? He attends a church that invites various apostles and female pastors to come and speak. Most of the pastors are married to female pastors. They buy $30 Hebrew prayer shawls to cover up the women when they fall back into a trance and seem to pass out. The pastor shouts, pauses and waits for a drummer to slam a drum whenever he shouts something like “Stomp on him!” (meaning the devil) and many other catchy commands. How did they ever come up with more apostles?

Jacob Responds:

While I will be happy to answer your question about apostles, the problems at your brother’s church extend well beyond that or any other single issue. Quite frankly, from what you describe, the whole joint is nuts. Continue reading

The Basic Tools of Deception

Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. (2 Thessalonians 2:1–2)

These verses provide an opening to a larger teaching about the final person of the Antichrist to come, but if we rush past too quickly we might not appreciate the valuable gem of insight Paul provides. The overwhelming, repeated characteristic about the Antichrist and those who operate in the character and likeness of Satan is deception. It started with Satan as the serpent in the Garden with Eve and it continues throughout the whole of Scripture until the anticipated Last Days when deception multiplies to a level never before experienced. But notice that Paul provides us with the contents of the basic deception toolkit: “a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us”. All deception embraces one or more of these approaches.
