Those that deny ‘penal substitution’ are “the enemies of the cross of Christ” [Philippians 3:18]

Over recent years there has been a steady build up of opposition to and outright rejection of what some term as ‘the theory’ of ‘penal substitution’. Amongst the definitions for  ‘theory’ is one that reads – ‘a conjectural view or idea’. When it comes then to understanding what was happening on “the cross of Christ” for the faithful Christian the doctrine of ‘penal substitution’ is not a matter of ‘conjecture’ but it is the factual and glorious heartbeat that sustains God’s gift of “eternal life” [Romans 6:23]. ‘Penal substitution’ is a factual divine truth that leaps from the pages of the Bible and to deny otherwise is quite simply to set oneself up as an ‘enemy of the cross of Christ’. No Sweat

October 30, 2009
by Jackie Alnor from Apostasy Alert
(Original article posted here.)

Do the recent deaths at a Sedona, Arizona New Age spiritual retreat have a lesson for anyone on a Christian journey today? It may seem far-fetched to think that anyone calling themselves “Christian” could learn anything from a group of ‘stupid people’ following a charismatic cult leader into an unventilated sweat lodge with 65 other ‘stupid people,’ yet this could be a wake-up call for some emergents, ecumenists and “prophetic” charismaniac ‘stupid people.’ (tongue-in-cheek, of course) Continue reading »

A Polite Response to Andrew Strom’s Article

by J. Jacob Prasch

My family are Hebrew-speaking Israeli Jews who believe in Jesus and retain Jewish culture. Our ministry Moriel has published three articles warning about the extreme axis of the Messianic Movement that lifts up Jewishness instead of Jesus-ness and seeks to place non-Jews under Torah and Sabbatarian observance. It is an issue also addressed in my last book. Continue reading »

Regarding Scott Johnson

The Extreme Axis of the Messianic and Hebrew Roots Movements

By Jacob Prasch

First of all, I and Moriel and others such as Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum have warned multiple times about the extreme axis of the Messianic and Hebrew Roots Movements, which in fact is not a movement but a series of strains — some biblical, some unbiblical. For instance, I and Moriel were among the very first to warn against Peter Michas as being utterly heretical. But not all are, by any measure, alike. Anyone like Scott Johnson stereotyping them all into the same category tells me automatically that he himself does not understand what he is criticizing. It would be like calling all Southern Baptists racial segregationists (which is simply untrue). Continue reading »

Ex-Lap Dancer to Perform for Church Leaders

Like a prayer: The Italian nun who spent 20 years as a lapdancer

By Nick Pisa

A lapdancer has opted for the most dramatic of ‘career’ changes and become a nun.

Anna Nobili, 38, spent 20 years performing in strip clubs across Europe.

Deciding she wanted more out of life, Miss Nobili has joined the order of the Sister Workers of the Holy House of Nazareth.

The Refining Fire – Final Reply

The Refining Fire: A Reply to Their Latest Folly

A spokesman for Carmen Welker has posted the following list of comments in reaction to our assertion that their implausible claim that Paul the Apostle did not speak Greek well and that since there is no manuscript evidence for Aramaic originals, their contentions are blatantly absurd. More Ignorance & Folly from Carmen Welker & “Refining Fire”

Carmen Welker, who calls herself “Rabbi Shali Bat Yehudit”, the front woman for a group calling itself “Refining Fire” which denies one God in three Persons (the Person-hood of the Holy Spirit) and promotes mandatory Orthodox Jewish Religious observance for Christians, has again demonstrated the outlandish ignorance to which she subscribes with claims that are beyond buffoonery.

Welker takes exception to the term “Trinity”, challenging that it should be found in Scripture. In actual fact, Moriel never used the term “Trinity” but rather “one God in three Persons”, which can certainly be found in Scripture. It has remained the overwhelmingly predominant belief of Christians since the time of Jesus and the Apostles, including all non-Ebionite Jewish believers in Yeshua. Continue reading »

Refining Fire?

A Heretical Group Based on the Spriit of Error, Ignorance, Charlatanism & a Most Absurd Stupidity

By Jacob Prasch

Moriel has warned of various hyper-Messianic type groups with heretical Christologies (including Neo- Ebionism) and legalism placing even non-Jews under a Mosaic law that is fulfilled in Christ and no longer even biblically operative since 70AD. This is not, of course, to negate the freedom in Christ for believing Jews to maintain cultural observances electively nor does it negate the importance of all believers comprehending the Hebraic origins of biblical Christianity and of both Testaments, nor of being aware of the prophetic purposes of God for Israel and the Jews and of the serious error of replacement theology. More of the Same Old Carnal Idiocy Coming Down the Same Old Pike?

(Please correct us if we are mistaken)

Moriel and Jacob Prasch indeed urge serious prayer, fasting, and intercession for Israel & The Jews at this perilous time as the return of Christ draws closer and the advent of the Antichrist draws closer still. What we oppose, however, are immorality, heresy, and lunacy and the Last Days deception these things too often engender. Such madness serves the interest of neither Israel or the church.

The Shack And Its New Age Leaven

God IN Everything?

By Warren Smith

“A little leaven leaventh the whole lump.”
- Galatians 5:9

The Shack is being described as a “Christian” novel and is currently ranked number one on the New York Times bestseller list for paperback fiction. Many believers are buying multiple copies and giving them to friends and family. The Shack reads as a true story, but is obviously allegorical fiction. The book conveys postmodern spiritual ideas and teachings that challenge biblical Christianity – all in the name of “God” and “Jesus” and the “Holy Spirit.” Author William P. Young’s alternative presentation of traditional Christianity has both inspired and outraged his many readers. All the while his book continues to fly off the shelves of local bookstores. Dominionism And The Rise Of Christian Imperialism

By Sarah Leslie

Conspiracy theorizing about the Christian Right’s supposedly “secret” agenda involves highlighting the hate-mongering and bizarre ideas of a handful of Christian Right players while neglecting the broad popularity of dominion theology. Continue reading »

Living In A Time Of Confusion

by Mike Oppenheimer
Let Us Reason Ministries

James 3:13-4:1: “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.  But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from  abovebut is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and everyevil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Nowthe fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.Continue reading »

Prognosticators in the Land

by Jackie Alnor
Apostasy Alert Ministries

Every year around this time we see news features that look back at the year to size up the events that took place. In the church world, 2007 seemed somewhat typical – no big revivals, true or false, to report on. The biggest thing to happen this year were the killings that took place in Colorado at YWAM and at Ted Haggard’s former church New Life Church. We also had the 7-7-7 let-down of Lou Engle’s “The Call” that was hyped up to be the expectant “shift” in the heavenlies – a big dud! Then two scandalous marriage break-ups of Juanita Bynum and Paula White. Nothing earth-shattering there! And 2007 was wrapped up in the announcement of the televangelist investigation of Senator Grassley that is ongoin.  Continue reading »
