The Msindisi Monthly – February 2009
Dear Moriel Supporters.
This last month has been quite encouraging but there have been challenges too. On the good side of news we have had 4 people give their lives to the Lord. Two of which are a couple that have had a child out of wedlock. We are trusting that they will have a civil ceremony soon and then they will be baptised. It was a pleasure seeing the Lord open the guys eyes to the Gospel and him zealously grab the offer of salvation with both hands. In none of the cases was there an altar call. They all approached Zak and I about salvation. In a 5th case a lady recommitted her life to the Lord after being involved in a church that was antinomian in its teaching. On the bad side of news, our friend, Sam, has been ill for a couple of weeks with sinus problems and severe headaches. He has seen a couple of doctors but wasn’t satisfied that the medication he had been given was taking away the pain. He went to a traditional herbalist for some medicine but this had a bad effect on him. We have visited him in hospital and were pleased to see that he was feeling better though still looking thin. While he has been ill the last couple of weeks he has stubbornly refused to eat, so it was good to see him eating. Please pray for Him that God would be gracious and convict him and restore him. Sam is a lovely guy who had a real heart change a few months back and it has been sad to see him in the position he has been in.
We have been regularly going onto the settlements. In the week we tend to visit the brethren and on a saturday or a friday we preach the Gospel loud and strong. Every week we preach in a different spot and over the next 8 weeks we want to cover the entire settlement so that nearly every corner will have had the Gospel preached from it. On this saturday we have some people coming who attend the Moriel affiliated Joburg church, to share the Gospel with us. Some of them speak Zulu and some do not. They are a hearty group of people who have a great deal of enthusiasm to serve the Lord evangelistically and through good works.
On the first of April we will be leaving Ebyown and taking two weeks to stay with Allen and Sue in order to catch up with people that we know around Gauteng before leaving to move to KwaZulu on the 16th or 17th of April. We are going for a short visit this month between 19th and 28th of February. When we go Masesi will still school with Sue, who will pick her up from the settlement every week.
