The Second Sin of King David
Is it a saga of shame, betrayal, and foolishness by those who should (and actually do) know better, or is it more a matter of biblical ignorance, a misplaced zeal, pandering to the pressures of theocratic politics, or convoluted loyalties, or a lack of wisdom from above?
There is no doubt that God’s PEACE plan is the redemptive and regenerative Gospel of Jesus alone; there is no true salvation in any other Name (Acts 4:12), nor any other true God but the God of Israel (Exodus 20:3, Jeremiah 10:10) and other gods are demons (1 Corinthians 10:20, Deuteronomy 32:17, Psalm 106:37). Nor is there any other true “PEACE” except through God’s peace plan based on the New Testament Gospel of salvation by grace and justification through faith (Luke 2:14, Romans 3:17, Romans 5:1, Ephesians 2:14, 2 Thessalonians 3:16, 1 Peter 5:14, 2 Peter 3:14).
Rick Warren however, has teamed up with Tony Blair to push Rick Warren’s own “Global ‘PEACE’ Plan” aligning governments, industries, and religions – all religions (including Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist and worshipers of other “gods” which Scripture identifies as demons) to inaugurate Warren’s peace plan contrary to God’s and omits the Gospel of Jesus as the only true “PEACE”. Packer to betray the scriptural Gospel compromising with the sacramental one of Roman Catholicism. Then Satan raised up anti-Israel preacher John Stott and Replacement Theology Restorationist Roger Forster to deny that Jesus died to save souls from a permanent conscious hell because they teach none exits. Then Satan raised up Tony Campolo and his son Bart to deny that things Scripture calls “sin” are sin, stating that portions of God’s Word with which they disagree will either be spiritualized away or ignored. Then Satan raised up Mike Bickel’s assortment of predatory perverts, drunks, homosexuals, and mystics — the Kansas City False Prophets who propagated an over-realized eschatology of Kingdom Dominion Theology fueled by failed prophetic predictions. Then Satan raised up Rick Warren to replace God’s peace plan with Rick Warren’s multi-faith one and replace the scriptural kerygma of Gospel presentation with a seeker-friendly one based on the marketing psychology of Peter Drucker, Bill Hybels, Robert Schuller, and New Age mystic Ken Blanchard. Warren’s “Purpose Driven Lie” is not built on biblical theology but on popular psychology which downplays sin. Thank you for your letter. However, I have viewed some of the meetings. And, quite frankly, I have not been impressed. I have been involved in ministry for many years. And, I have observed that if a pastor or Christian cannot tell the difference between the work of the Holy Spirit and the works of the devil, then that person has been completely deceived. While being a pastor and member of the 100 Huntley Street Television Ministry located in Canada , I was asked to do a “Scriptural Check-up” of all of our guests who shared their teachings and the testimonies. I would make an on-air Scriptural evaluation of what they said. It was then, that I discovered that many teachings and doctrines that well-meaning pastors and Christians shared sounded alright but when examined by the Scriptures, they were unscriptural and wrong. I discovered that people whom I respected could not tell the difference between the work of the Holy Spirit and the work of the enemy. Demons give people a religious experience that causes them to throw aside everything Biblical. Will Rejecting Pentecostalism and Charismatic Gifts Solve The Churches’ Problems?
In the recent few years a number of people who had always been open to the gifts of the Holy Spirit have felt driven away from that belief into a stoic non-charismatic or even an anti-charismatic or anti-Pentecostal Christianity. There exists a combination of reasons for this trend. Among them are the unbalanced and anti-scriptural extremism of Toronto and Pensacola, the essentially mystical and New Age perversions of biblical theology by the Vineyard Movement, the Shamanism copied from Buddhism and Hinduism by Yongee Cho, and the Altered States of Consciousness as Christian experience argued for by Patrick Dixon. To this has been added the failed prophetic predictions of men like Paul Cane, Mike Bickle and the Kansas City Prophets’, Gerald Coates, and Rick Joyner. Perhaps worst of all has been the wild televised proliferation of money-oriented faith-prosperity preachers and bogus faith healers who are too numerous to mention, that seem to be good for nothing other than discrediting the Gospel in the eyes of the public, conning undiscerning and biblically ignorant Christians out of money better donated to honest missions, Christian charity, and biblical forms of evangelism, and too often even getting people killed when they cease vital medical therapy wrongly believing they have been healed when they have not been. Zephaniah 3:18 – “I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden.”
This is a dual prophecy by Zephaniah. It has to do with the children of Israel . . and also with spiritual Zion (which is the church of Jesus Christ of the last day). First of all, he was speaking to Jews – that God was going to gather together the dispersed . . . but He was only going to bring back those who had a broken heart for the sad condition of Israel. . . . . He would remember all who carried the reproach. . . all of the horrible things that were going on in God’s House. Those who carried the burden of it, He said, “I am going to gather you”. I’m having church issues this week. As many of you know, I have attended Calvary Chapels since I was born-again back in 1981. My first Calvary was Costa Mesa and my first pastor was Chuck Smith. I still think of it as my home church since I’ve moved around this country a lot. Pastor Chuck and I would agree on all the essentials of the faith and even on many non-essentials. But, because he pastors a mega-church, I’ve never actually met him face to face. He doesn’t know me, though he knows of me, however I can finish his sentences, I’m that familiar with his teaching. David Wilkerson caused a big controversy in UK by associating with Churches and leaders who were into stuff that he had previously criticised in his excellent The Reproach of the Solemn Assembly, in which he had denounced the faith-prosperity and Toronto-associated practices and teachings that have caused so much trouble within the Church. To make matters worse he said some incredibly silly things on that tour in a message regarding our intimacy with Christ. Based on John 4:32 and associated statements, David Wilkerson claimed that the woman of Samaria “fed” Christ and that this was the “meat” that Jesus referred to in this verse.
